I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.
Briton Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex two time world boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.
Fighter's Mindset
"I will break his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, said.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.
"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
In spite of those words, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Fighter
Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Financial Success
Still, the relative newcomer remains one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making massive earnings.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.
Size Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference evident, it emphasized just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is really happening.
